This surface element limiter switch monitors burner temperature and opens the circuit if it overheats. It helps regulate element cycling for consistent cooking performance and, on many models, feeds the hot-surface indicator light.
- Monitors the surface element's temperature and interrupts power if overheating is detected
- Helps regulate element cycling to maintain safe operating temperatures
- Interfaces with the hot-surface indicator light on many models
- Common symptoms of a failed limiter: surface element won't heat, cycles off too soon, uneven heating, or hot-surface light stuck on or off
What's included: 1 limit switch Install notes:
- Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing
- Access and mounting vary by model; typically installed at the surface element beneath the cooktop
- Transfer wires one at a time to the matching terminals; ensure snug connections
- Reinstall so the sensor face/clip contacts the element or bracket as originally positioned to ensure proper temperature sensing

7 year old GE profile electric range all oven features stopped working John C. • Yorktown Heights , NY • October 12, 2018
With the support of Appliance Parts Pros, I ordered 3 parts (plus glass stove top cleaner) that were suspected to be the cause of the problem for a total of $49.59. Easily replaced the Range Oven Sensor, $15.91, at the back of the interior oven & that was it! All oven features work fine & my wife set the oven for the clean cycle earlier today. So far, so good! Thanks for your help! Would recommend Appliance Parts Pros to anyone.

Humming sound and burnt smell Antonio F. • Miami , FL • June 08, 2018
I measured the resistance between the two connectors on the magnetron: should be close to zero ohms and it was. I measured between the same connectors and the metal case: should be mega ohms, it was 15k ohms. That is a bad, partly shorted unit. I also checked the resistance of the thermal cut off, which should be zero but was 10 ohms so I replaced. The HV diode is checked with a 9 V battery (YouTube checking microwave HV diode) and it too was bad. Make sure to take pictures as you disassemble...

Oven had a burnt out hidden bake element and was not heating properly Christopher A. • Auburn , AL • April 23, 2017
Following the instructions that I received through the helpful research of the APP staff, I disconnected the power, disassembled the back of the oven, and accessed the hidden element. This involved bending parts of the sheet metal and cutting the insulation, so I was very apprehensive about doing this. Once I exposed the compartment that contains the element, I had difficulty extracting the old part and was really nervous about pulling hard to extract it - until I saw the damaged element. It...

Our son tried to do us a favor by using the selfclean feature on our oven while we were out of town this caused one or more internal fuses to blow Daniel A. • Magnolia , TX • May 13, 2017
Not sure which fuse might be bad, I ordered all three. The oven is almost twenty years old, so I figured it couldn't hurt to replace them all. The breakers marked oven were tripped, so we figured everything was off. Wrong! The 220 and the 120 are separate breakers. We found this out the old fashioned way, we got shocked.
Anyway, the fix is pretty simple. Take off decorative trim. Only one screw on each side holds it on. Remove four screws securing oven to cabinet, and slide oven out. Our oven...

The broiler in the upper oven of a maytag gemini did not work Paul S. • Livonia , MI • March 06, 2015

The switch lead on one side was loose in the body of the switch. I replaced the limit switch and the broiler now works. Replacing the switch is simple but you may need to open the wire connecting lug as you want it to fit snugly but not force it on as this switch seems a little flimsy.
