Clamps may be spring or screw/band clamps. Spring clamps require no tools to install and remove; however, the size must be more accurate than when using screw/band clamps. Screw/band clamps are adjustable and can be tightened or loosened. Screw clamps should be inspected periodically to ensure tightness and that the clamps have not rusted.Hose clamps are installed approximately 1/4 inch below the end of the hose. If two clamps are used, there should be 1/4 inch between the two bands. When using a screw clamp, loosen the screw with a screwdriver just enough to fit the clamp over the hose. If using a spring clamp, squeeze the clamp and hold it open. Slide the clamp over the hose and then attach the hose and clamp to the fitting. Slide the clamp into place at the joint and tighten.
