Roper Control Board

Roper Defrost Timer Cam
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP2314156

This defrost timer cam replaces the plastic cam on a mechanical defrost timer. It restores the timer's changeover between cooling and defrost, helping prevent frost buildup on the evaporator and temperature swings inside the refrigerator.

  • Mounts on the timer shaft to actuate the internal switch between cooling and defrost
  • Helps resolve issues like heavy frost on the evaporator, warm fresh food section, or a unit stuck in defrost/run
  • Corrects timer advancement problems caused by a stripped, cracked, or missing cam
  • Typically installed with the defrost timer in the control housing or rear service area
What's included: 1 defrost timer cam Install notes:
  • Disconnect power before servicing
  • Access the defrost timer and note the original cam's orientation for reference
  • Remove any retainer, pull the old cam straight off, and press the new cam fully onto the shaft without forcing
  • Reassemble, then manually advance the timer to confirm it switches modes before restoring power

The way the manufacturer, in this case, Amana, mounts that unit with "clips" is just poor design and engineering. It is virtually impossible to get the timer out without damaging the mounts. I had to do some creative rework to mount the new timer. After 2 days, the fridge appears to be working properly with these new parts. The new parts were shipped Very Fast...APP is... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Kenmore elite dryer routinely stopped after a few minutes when set on the moisture cycle but finished completely when set on timed cycle   James L. • Brandywine , MD • December 06, 2014

Did some research via the internet and figured the problem was likely the moisture control board. Watched a video of the repair of a similar unit in order to locate the moisture control board. Used the chat feature with one of the Appliance Parts Pros to get a schematic of the dryer and advice about where to use the putty knife to release the springs for access to the board. Thanks to the lady I chatted with for expert advice. Once the actual task was started, the repair took 15 or 20... Read more
