First I took off the spring loaded wire ring holding down the seal to the door with needle nose pliers. Pulled back the seal. Removed the 3 screws holding the part on the front of the washing machine. Slid the piece out. Took the protector guard off the off piece and unplug the wires. Put the wires into new part. I took apart the washer to find both of the weight balancers had broken in 2 and were banging around. They had also caused the boot seal to rip. I removed the broken weight balancers and replaced them along with a new boot seal.
