GE Washer m/n GTW460ASJ6WW would allow other fill levels, but when set to "super" it would never stop filling. Checked water inlet valve (by initiating a fill and unplugging the unit) to see if the inlet valve was sticking open, that was not the issue. All's well that ends well, but the getting there was a bit of a pain. The web site suggests 3 possible causes for my problem (incl. the burning smell). The washer would try to start. The door would lock, but then would get stuck in the phase of start-up where the drum needs to roll around (I assume so it knows what's in there). It would sit and think about it for a couple minutes and then give the error codes. I replaced the belt and the pump. It now works like it is new again! I am glad that I purchased the belt installation tool. It made replacing the belt very easy. I also purchased the Control Assembly which I did not install. It wasn't needed to repair the washer but I will keep it in case it is needed for future repairs. The washer was on, and I heard a faint humming sound in the laundry room. I went in and opened the washer and it was full of soapy water in the middle of its cycle and was not agitating. Unplugged power cord, shut off hot and cold water valves, and disconnected hot and cold water lines. I taped the lid closed and laid washer down on its front panel to access motor parts underneath. Removed center screw (allen wrench) and then removed large, round, plastic rotor (had to use some force with fingers behind it to get it off).
