Gotta love the inter-webs and youtube.com I did a couple of searches and some troubleshooting. I had the parts waiting for me at the house. Rolled in Sunday, 22 minutes later, damper and thermo installed. The fridge is cooling. Today is Tuesday and everything is back down to temp. knuckle bump. Read more
Refrigerator warm while freezer works? Thermistor assembly monitors temperature and signals the control board. Common fix for temperature control issues.
I replaced the damper and thermistor assemblies. I saw another story here that was just like mine. Damper door was shut and would not open. I decided to tear down again and check the defrost heater element which was found to have an open circuit and hence the replacement part. Secures door handle to refrigerator door. Replace if missing, stripped, rusted, or corroded from regular use. Essential hardware for handle installation.
I ordered a replacement handle and screws. The process was very easy with the help of one of your "pros" who found all the parts needed and took my order. I didn't realize I was getting both a refrigerator door handle and a freezer door handle in one set, but now we have the freezer handle if we need it. Removing the old handle and installing the replacement was very easy. It looks great, in fact the replacement is metal, whereas the original was plastic, so it looks better than it ever did! Noticed Rolls on the top shelf no longer frozen, though the meat around it still was. Note: This is a good test, keep something that thaws quickly and is not expensive on top shelf, to act as a barometer for your freezer health!
