My refrigerator was not dispensing ice. I could hear the motor activating but noticed the ice auger was not turning. My old drive shaft was stripped on both ends. Ice Door Kit, Control Bracket, and Ice Dispenser Guide were purchased. I followed two videos on replacing the parts. The Control Bracket WP2180226 / AP6005965, was straight forward and I discovered a snapped pin on the old bracket causing an electric switch to be out of place... that repair was easy. Unplugged refrigerator and removed access panel from back of fridge. Have had this panel off many times for dust removal. Panel is a cheap piece of glorified cardboard on this Whirlpool model, which is a shame given that it was a $1000 refrigerator. Our Kenmore (Whirlpool) refrigerator's ice maker had stopped making ice. I searched YouTube and found a repair videos for this exact problem, finding one with a similar refrigerator and the identical ice maker. I watched the Appliance Parts Pros repair video and decided to remove the front panel to diagnose the problem. While the repair video is excellent, I could not remove the ice/water dispenser front panel with a putty knife. On my model, 106.56234400, there is no clip that can be released by sliding a putty knife up under the front panel. Thank you to everyone who entered comments, especially about the "Clicking" sounds when it was trying to turn on the compressor. I did not notice them at first, but then heard them and was confident that one of these parts (or both) had a problem. In my case, I have custom cabinets around the sides of the refrigerator and hardwood floors in the kitchen so I put down some cardboard when the rollers would need to go at an angle due to a center island in the way. I determined my thermostat was defective, ordered the thermostat which arrived in two days and I replaced the thermostat and I now have a full bin of ice !!!
