This knob features a 'D' shaped shaft insert, designed for compatibility with a D-shaped shaft. In the OFF position, the flat side of the shaft insert is aligned for easy recognition. With dimensions of 2-3/8" in diameter and 1-7/8"W, the shaft extends approximately 1/4" past the back of the knob.

Rather than replacing the whole ignition switch harness, I cut out the broken switch and replaced it with Burner Ignition Switch WB24K10017 / AP2632529. Wire stripper, small wire nuts, and electrical tape were also used.
At first, the new switch was constantly on when the knob was in the off position. The gas valve shaft has a "U" shape. When the U is right side up, the gas is off and so should the igniter. The gas valve shaft position couldn't be changed, so instead, I re-mounted the...
