I have a 25 year old Kenmore washer that works well and didn't want to get a new washer as they don't make them like they used to. This water inlet valve controls the flow of water into the washing machine during fill cycles. It uses an electrically operated solenoid to open and close in response to signals from the control board. Removed the back cover. (Glad I used my power tool to remove all the screws) I then removed the sheared off part of the bolt using drill and easy-out tool. It was a straightforward install of the new bolt. I added a little bit of blue Loctite even though the bolt already had some dry thread sealer. I torqued it down enough to hold everything snug.
