I replaced the Relay-Ptc and that solved the problem. I could see that there was a problem with the relay because it was arcing inside and you could see a glow coming from the inside. when I removed it from the compressor I shook it and I could hear it rattling and news for sure it was the problem Read more

Used a muiltimeter to test all parts and ohm'ed out all parts. found out condenser fan motor seized up [open winding in motor] replaced that, and found that also caused the compressor overload and relay to fail, from over heating and over cycling, replaced both parts, powered up the refrigerator retested all electrical parts checked amp reading on all parts under load conditions,works good know, hope to get another 15 years out of this refrigator, its a maytag. over 20 years old. At first, I suspected the evaporator fan motor was going bad, but when I went in to check it out, I found the evaporator coils totally frozen up; the fan was cavitating. I defrosted the coils completely and checked everything out. By process of elimination the Defrost timer had to be the culprit. I unplugged the timer and sure enough, the motor winding was open. Watched u tube video. Ordered replacement water inlet valve and new hoses. Dismantled washer and replaced defective valve and installed new hoses. The repair went very easily and the washer worked perfectly as a result. Read more

Temporarily stuck a BMW lug bolt through the bracket and pivot opening to secure the door on the base, then waited just 3 days for the exact parts to come in from AppliancePros. A friends family had left her refrigerator out on a porch while they were remodeling the house she was supposed to move into. A wind storm blew the refrigerator off the porch and tore the door off. I removed the back panel in freezer and light cover then the following: remove the rusted clips, unplug heater and replaced new heater, the thermostat defrost I unfasten, clip on replacement and connected plugs. Read more

Thawed out the evap/heat exchanger assembly, replaced the overload/relay kit as well as the defrost control board and the fridge was back in business, everything working fine. I'm kicking myself for not ordering these parts earlier. there was a clicking sound coming from the compressor that I ignored which was a huge mistake. Read more
