Amana Refrigerator Gasket & Seal

First had to clean inside the empty freezer, that was the hard part. removed old gasket and cleaned inside the track in the door. had the new gasket well warmed and in the right shape. put new gasket in track. seating it firmly. It was very easy. I did watch a couple of online videos to get the general idea of what it detailed. • Fridge too warm

Unfortunately, this model has the screws that you need to loosen before you can squeeze the rubber in but the gaskets fit perfectly. It took a lot more time than the video showed but that was because the video was of the pop in type. Be sure when pushing the rubber under the metal strip you make sure it actually goes in. I pulled the old gasket off the door then I used rubbing alcohol to clean the mold along the back of the door and in the insert for the gasket seals . The new gasket fit extremely well and was very easy to put in. I waited 24 hours for the gasket to come back to its normal shape. After putting the gasket in I waited another 24 hours to make sure that I was getting no Icing inside the freezer area. There was no icing so the job is completed. Read more

Instructions are very dumb, but it's an easy fix. Loosen all the nuts that hold the metal bars that hold the old gasket. (Loosen. Don't take them off!) Pull off the old gasket. Slip the new into place all the way around. Get the corners in position, middles can be loose. Tighten the corners, then work the middles into place and tighten as you go. Done. Read more

I ordered the replacement gasket and...replaced it. One issue was that the replacement procedure was not at all like the video to which I was directed when I got the gasket. The video showed a gasket with a rigid flange that had to be inserted into the door structure. On my Amana, I clearly had to remove the inner plastic liner and set the gasket under it. Loosened nuts around outer flange. Pulled out old gasket as shown in video. Prepared new gasket per included instructions. Installed new gasket again using techniques shown in video. Secured nuts then confirmed proper seal. This was not a difficult repair however patience and care is needed to ensure new gasket is properly seated without damage. Read more
