Scott P Bucyrus , OH November 29, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MTB2155BRW I needed to replace a refrigerator gasket on my maytag refrigerator: model # mtb2155brw I used the Company's chat line on 11/18/2015 to speak with a representative to make sure I would be ordering the correct replacement part. That was a very helpful and pleasant experience. The agent assured me I would be receiving the part within two days and she was spot on. She indicated I would be receiving an Order Confirmation email with a link to a repair video. The video was very helpful in describing the process to remove the old gasket and the tools I would need. I installed the gasket the day after Thanksgiving. I wanted to so it sooner but my wife was concerned I might encounter some difficulty and asked me to wait until the day after. She needn't have worried. The entire process took no more than 25-30 minutes. Although the video shows a side by side unit my refrigerator has a freezer on top and I thought I might have to remove that door as well to get to and remove the refrigerator door. Surprisingly, I had to remove neither. I removed the food items in stored in the refrigerator door and sealed off the refrigerator, itself, with tape and a sheet of plastic while the removal and install took place. Once the screws were removed from beneath the old liner the inner panel came off and I was able to make sure I would have a proper fit with the new gasket. I simply laid the inner panel on a flat surface and laid the new gasket around to satisfy myself I had the right gasket. I took both the inner panel and gasket to the door and with a little help from my wife, seated it and put the screws in being careful to make sure the inner "tab" was in place. It was much easier than I thought it would be and I saved the expense of hiring a repairman to do the job. An all around good experience! Viola T West Warwick , RI August 29, 2016 Door seal (gasket) on frig After receiving the seal from your company, I reviewed the video which was on the your site. I then followed those directions. I started by soaking the gasket in warm water until it was well pliable. Our frig was a different model and had screws that you needed to remove prior to removing the older seal and after attaching the new seal. Took about 30 minutes in total. Initially it appeared that the seal wouldn't completely seal but within 30 minutes I noted that the seal started to be tight. One item that I did that wasn't mentioned in the vid, I took a big garbage bag and taped it over the open door so I didn't have the food warming. I also installed the seal with the door attached. Work fine! Read More... 9 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: 30-60 minutes Tools: Screwdrivers
Edward I Ocean View , NJ June 10, 2017 Freezer gasket was leaking and fridge gasket had a rip Ordered the gasket kit. The shipping time was quick. The installation was more difficult than anticipated. The inside of the door had to be removed there were about 30 hex head screws. the new gasket then had to be fitted to the interior of the door and then placed on the outer part of the door and the screws replaced. The screw replacement took longer than anticipated as there were eight corner screws that were very difficult to manage because of the inside design of the gasket. The screws all had to be left loose and the door put back on the fridge to adjust it to a proper fit, then tighten the screws while the door was on the fridge. The instructions did not address this type of application. If you are not a little mechanically inclined you might want to leave this to a professional. My fridge in a Maytag by the way. One more thing my left wrist is broken in a hard cast so my wife helped a lot. The seal is great on the new gasket. Pat M Clarkston , MI March 26, 2016 Appliance: Maytag Refrigerator MTB2156DEW Ripped door seal Heated new door seal with hair dryer to make more pliable. Unhooked all the door shelves with food items and set aside. Then removed old door seal & inner panel with electric drill & screw bit being careful not lose the screws under the fridge. :( Separated the old door seal from the inner panel (noticing splits & tears at edges & corners) and discarded. Slipped on new seal to inner panel all the way around. IMPORTANT: Use a hand screw driver for the re-attachment process so as to not over torque the screws. Starting at the middle top screw holes, secure the inner panel & new seal to the door. Next, affix the screw holes at the outside of the top side, then work on the rest being careful to make certain the seal is correctly in place. Do the same for the other 3 sides doing the side closest to the fridge next, followed by the bottom the outside portion last. Doing the outside portion last is important because you'll need the elbow room to get the last screws in place...maybe even an extra hand. Make certain seal is working correctly by listening to "sucking" sound made when closing the door.
