This evaporator fan motor circulates cold air through the freezer and refrigerator compartments to help maintain even cooling and proper defrost airflow. Replacing a worn motor restores airflow and helps the fridge reach set temperatures more reliably. What it does:
- Spins the evaporator blower to move cold air from the evaporator through the cabinet.
- Restores airflow when the motor has failed, slowed, or runs intermittently.
- Helps reduce uneven cooling, warm spots, and extended run times caused by poor air circulation.
- May stop making excessive noise or vibrating when a worn motor is replaced.
What's included: One evaporator fan motor. Install notes:
- Disconnect power to the appliance before beginning any service.
- Access typically requires removing the freezer evaporator cover or rear interior panel—keep screws and small parts organized.
- Handle evaporator fins and blower wheel carefully to avoid damage; check clearance and wheel alignment during reassembly.
