I found I could "rap" on my broiler/oven control valve and the oven would light, so I ordered a new control valve. Installing valve was not difficult except for having to lay on the floor and work in a small space. After installation, the oven lit only ONE time...and the boiler/oven problem was unchanged....broiler would light, but not oven. Very easily!! Although the stove in the video was a different setup then ours , it worked. We took the face of the stove off, took out the 9 screws holding it on. Checked the wire attachments against the new unit and plugged in in. The only thing I wished I'd known, the actual face( with the words oven etc.on it) needed to be peeled from the original unit. It came off pretty good and is usable but would have been nice to have a new one. Read more

A word of caution - Due to not fully analyzing the situation upfront, I ultimately replaced more parts than necessary. So don't forget to check the spark module (the little electronic gadget that powers all the igniters), rather than jumping to the conclusion that the individual igniter or associated igniter cord is the problem (as I mistakenly did). I looked up the schematics on Google, and where to order GE parts from, ordered the part took 2 days to arrive, took 20 minutes total to take out old element and put in new element.
