Replaced the damper control. It took only 10-15 minutes. Since replacement, the clicking noise has stopped. Very happy with the result. However, want to share that there was probably nothing wrong with the original damper other than the original faulty design. I got some good tips on what to do about the block of ice and how simple it was to replace the thermostat. The damper control didn't have much information on it but it's really not that hard at all.
