Used a muiltimeter to test all parts and ohm'ed out all parts. found out condenser fan motor seized up [open winding in motor] replaced that, and found that also caused the compressor overload and relay to fail, from over heating and over cycling, replaced both parts, powered up the refrigerator retested all electrical parts checked amp reading on all parts under load conditions,works good know, hope to get another 15 years out of this refrigator, its a maytag. over 20 years old. Purchased a replacement COMPRESSOR. The compress or was a replacement for MFG. P/N 5304478809. The compressor was not an exact replacement. This is a start relay device that attaches to the compressor and provides the initial electrical boost needed to start the compressor motor. It works in conjunction with the run capacitor to get the compressor running and then disengages once the motor reaches operating speed. Replace this device if the refrigerator is not cooling, the compressor clicks on and off repeatedly, or you hear a buzzing sound coming from the back of the unit.
