The Defrost Thermostat is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. The thermostat monitors the temperature of the evaporator coil and signals the defrost heater to turn on or off to prevent frost buildup, ensuring efficient cooling.
Causes of a bad defrost thermostat can include wear and tear over time, exposure to extreme temperatures, or electrical malfunctions.
Symptoms of a bad defrost thermostat include:
This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.
Watched a few of your well put together videos and could not afford a new Refrigerator right now because it was a built in so decided with the frost on the bottom of the freezer grill and the Refrigerator warming up decided to replace the Heater Element and Thermostat Defrost which took some time but so far so good lets hope that is all that is needed saved over 10,000.00 dollars for a new 48" built in for now! Thank you for your rushed order and videos I think you are a life saver got the part... Read more
This defrost thermostat controls power to the defrost heater by sensing the evaporator's temperature. Replacing a failed thermostat helps stop heavy frost build-up and supports consistent cooling and airflow in your refrigerator and freezer.
Got the infamous icemaker freezing up problem so common to Frigidaire Gallery and Professional series refrigerators. I was also only getting the "OP" code on the diagnostic test 26, so I determined the defrost heater and/or the thermostat was probably bad. So, I went ahead and replaced both of them, as well as installed the updated air handler housing kit. What I didn't realize from the parts pictures was that the air handler kit was not only updated foam replacements, but it was also a... Read more
The Defrost Thermostat is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This thermostat monitors the temperature of the evaporator coil and activates the defrost heater to melt any frost that has accumulated. This process ensures efficient cooling and prevents ice build-up in the freezer.
You should replace the defrost thermostat if it becomes faulty or damaged. Causes of a bad defrost thermostat can include regular wear and tear, electrical issues, or exposure to extreme temperatures that can lead to malfunctioning.
Took everything out and transferred it to coolers etc. Unscrewed and took freezer unit apart ..Evaporator fan not working and made decision to replace motor and bi metal defrost thermostat. Order parts from Appliance Pros. com and the unit was put back together and so far it corrected the problem. The instructions and service were outstanding. Great Company. Read more
The Defrost Thermostat is an OEM replacement part for Frigidaire upright freezers. It is a temperature-sensing device that monitors coil temperatures, triggering the automatic defrost cycle to safely melt frost buildup obstructing airflow. Located near refrigerator coils, the defrost thermostat optimizes energy-efficient defrosting. Causes often relate to regular exposure to fluctuating interior freezer temperatures over extended periods. Impacts compromising calibration can also force early replacement. Symptoms involve:
This Frigidaire OEM replacement part fits upright models by Electrolux, Gibson, and some Kenmore models.

The Defrost Thermostat is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. This component monitors the evaporator temperature. It activates warming to defrost the evaporator once the temperature reaches a certain point.
Over time, the defrost thermostat can fail due to electrical issues, exposure to fluctuating temperatures, or general wear and tear. A malfunctioning thermostat can lead to excessive frost buildup, affecting the refrigerator’s cooling efficiency.
This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
The defrost heater element looked good and had continuity. The defrost thermostats checked good, so that just left the Defrost Module as the likely suspect. I installed a new defrost control module and thermostats. The thermostats were inexpensive and the old ones could have been intermittent, The only "tricky" part was finding out how to get to the back screw that holds the main control panel. Discovered that the return air duct surrounding the control panel needed to come off. It helps... Read more

When I looked on the Appliance Parts Pro website it said the usual fix for a refrig that is not cooling is to replace the defrost thermostat in the freezer. I didn't see how that would keep the refrig from cooling but I figured I would try it. Got the part yesterday ( two days shipping which was great!). I took the panel off the back of the freezer and the coils were all covered in solid ice! it took me an hour with a heat gun to melt the ice. I changed the defrost thermostat and now the... Read more
This defrost thermostat is a clip-on, bi-metal safety control for the freezer evaporator. Replacing a failed thermostat restores proper automatic defrost, helping prevent heavy frost buildup and temperature swings in the fresh food section.

For an emergency fix I installed a 3 in1 kit disabling the original start cap and wiring in the original run cap to the run winding. Ordered the proper PTC and overload from Appliance Parts Pros and installed them 2 weeks later. The original start and run capacitor were good, rewired back to design specs. The original PTC had pins 1,2 and 3, the replacement had 2,3 and 4. Only wiring change was to install the red wire from pin 1 on the original PTC to pin 4 on the new PTC. Read more
This is the round bimetal defrost thermostat used in many refrigerators. It protects the evaporator from icing by opening and closing based on coil temperature, helping ensure consistent defrost cycles and reliable cooling performance.
This freezer wire harness links the refrigerator's control system to components inside the freezer compartment. Replacing a compromised harness restores reliable electrical connections and can resolve intermittent or dead freezer functions caused by burned, broken, or corroded wiring.

This refrigerator defrost thermostat monitors the evaporator temperature and shuts the defrost heater off once the ice has melted. Replacing a failed thermostat restores automatic defrost, reducing frost buildup and helping maintain steady, reliable cooling.
The Thermistor is an OEM Replacement Part that maintains the temperature inside your Frigidaire refrigerator. This thermistor handles reading the internal temperature. After reading, it transmits this information to the control system. At a temperature of 29 degrees, the thermistor should exhibit a resistance of about 35k ohms. While at room temperature, it should read approximately 5k ohms.
Causes of a bad thermistor can include regular wear and tear, exposure to moisture, or electrical issues. Over time, the thermistor may become less accurate or stop working altogether.
Symptoms of a bad thermistor include:
This OEM replacement is also compatible with Electrolux, Gibson, Kelvinator, and Kenmore models.
