Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The icemaker not making ice.   David S. • Lawrenceville , GA • July 17, 2021

Got the infamous icemaker freezing up problem so common to Frigidaire Gallery and Professional series refrigerators. I was also only getting the "OP" code on the diagnostic test 26, so I determined the defrost heater and/or the thermostat was probably bad. So, I went ahead and replaced both of them, as well as installed the updated air handler housing kit. What I didn't realize from the parts pictures was that the air handler kit was not only updated foam replacements, but it was also a... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The evaporator coil kept getting heavily frosted and the compressor ran almost continuously   Reid D. • Santa Maria , CA • April 01, 2016

The defrost heater element looked good and had continuity. The defrost thermostats checked good, so that just left the Defrost Module as the likely suspect. I installed a new defrost control module and thermostats. The thermostats were inexpensive and the old ones could have been intermittent, The only "tricky" part was finding out how to get to the back screw that holds the main control panel. Discovered that the return air duct surrounding the control panel needed to come off. It helps... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The refrig was too warm   Michael F. • Belvidere , IL • September 02, 2016

When I looked on the Appliance Parts Pro website it said the usual fix for a refrig that is not cooling is to replace the defrost thermostat in the freezer. I didn't see how that would keep the refrig from cooling but I figured I would try it. Got the part yesterday ( two days shipping which was great!). THERMISTOR ASSEMBLY,PTC

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg refrigerator wound not start   Steve S. • Peoria , AZ • May 28, 2016

For an emergency fix I installed a 3 in1 kit disabling the original start cap and wiring in the original run cap to the run winding. Ordered the proper PTC and overload from Appliance Parts Pros and installed them 2 weeks later. The original start and run capacitor were good, rewired back to design specs. The original PTC had pins 1,2 and 3, the replacement had 2,3 and 4. Only wiring change was to install the red wire from pin 1 on the original PTC to pin 4 on the new PTC. Read more
