With the basket out of the dishwasher, the plastic parts basically snap on and off... popped the broken parts off and the new parts on. Took the washer out, turned it over and found the solenoid that worked the drain valve to be melted, and the shaft that the solenoid activates was heavily corroded. I replaced the upper nozzle guide, nozzle shaft and upper spray arm. I also replaced the pump gasket for good measure. Top rack dishes had not been cleaning properly. I first removed the filter assembly to inspect the main pump from above. It was clogged but after cleaning and reassembly I observed that while middle and bottom spray arms were changing position, the upper spray arm was not. First determined drain discharge hose was clear. Turned of power to dishwasher. I did not find it necessary to remove the dishwasher. I simply removed the lower service panel at the floor and was able to easily remove the defective pump, unplug it, replace the small rubber check valve flapper before the pump inlet and reinstall the new pump assembly. I ordered a new vario motor and a soap dispenser. I turned off the water and the breaker, disconnected the water line and the power at the front base of the unit, disconnected the drain hose from the garbage dispenser, and pulled out the dishwasher and laid it on a blanket on its face. The gasket is fairly straightforward: it's just a press-fit right in to the channel. What you need to know is that you need to stretch the gasket material lengthwise prior to installation; if you don't it will be too short. The problem is that the bottom seal is not included with this gasket kit. The bottom seal begins to loosen at the corners and then begins to allow water past the door.
