Kenmore / Sears Dishwasher Parts

This is a 12 year old Kenmore, but my experience applies to many dishwashers. The machine had run for almost a year without being cleaned. I found parts had failed from age and water passages were jammed with hard-water deposits and pieces of food, labels, etc. that had gotten past the filters. • Leaking

The video was very helpful. the hardest part is getting off old rusted parts. I had to use a hacksaw to remove one of the old clamps. I had to open the bottom of the washing machine to remove of the other clamp. Putting the new parts on was easy. Getting everything apart was a challenge. I ordered both the front long panel and the lower access panel in the new color. I watched the instructional videos which were very helpful. I was very careful to remember where all the screws belonged as I took it apart. The panel required an extra small attachment to fit due to a change in design. I cleaned all the jet nozzles with a toothpick and a pipe cleaner to remove the hard water deposits. I then replace the ring bearing under the bottom spray wand and the ring bearing under the upper spray wand. I also replaced the smaller radial ring bearing. Although none of them looked overly worn, it doesn't take much to cause the spray wands to spray inadequately. Then, I replaced the float and washer assembly. It's an easy fix. Just remove the two screws holding it in place. Then it will be easier to remove the supply line. Disconnect the quick-connect wires. Remove the rubber hose and clamp. Attach the rubber hose and clamp to new part, attach supply line, attach wires and then screw back into place with screws. Turn on the water and test for leaks. Read more

Because the dishwasher made noise only when washing or rinsing, and not when filling, the problem was correctly diagnosed as a faulty circulation pump. Although not difficult, it took more time to remove the dishwasher from under the counter and to reinstall it (approximately one hour) than it took to swap out the circulation pump (5 minutes). We had to take the clips off the side arms to remove the upper basket. Then we turned it upside down to easily access the supply tube. There was one screw that held the assembly in place. We removed that and then replaced the part and put it back together. The feed tube holder just clipped to the upper basket. Read more
