Dryer not stopping when clothes are dry or over-drying loads? This moisture sensor electrode detects dampness levels to control cycle timing automatically.
If your dryer takes too long to dry or overheats, the cycling thermostat may have failed. This part regulates heat by cycling on and off. Easy DIY fix.
I removed the front panel and observed the heating element while running the dryer. It was cycling off every minute or so and staying off for several minutes. Even though it was likely the high temp cycling thermostat I replaced both the 14, and 15 cycling thermostats which I think are the original factory units. That makes them nearly 35 years old. Problem fixed. Read more

FIRST I PULL THE DRYER OUT FROM THE WALL AND TOOK THE BACK OFF. WITH A 5/16 NUT DRIVER. NEXT WITH A LIGHT SET UP I LOOKED FOR ANY BURNT, BROKEN,OR LOSE WIRES THAT MY HAVE COME OFF ANY CONNECTIONS. I HAVE AN ELECTRIC DRYER AND AS I LOOKED DOWN TO THE HEATING COIL AREA, WHAT I WILL CALL A HI-TEMP SWITCH I COULD SEE THAT THE PART APPEARED BURNT. Microwave won't start or shows door error? A blown thermal fuse is often the cause. This part protects circuits and restores power once installed.
I read up on others with this problem of microwave-wall oven combination Whirlpool Gold. We live in a very rural area and were not able to get ANYONE to service it - had 2 companies come out to inspect but they never returned. I have wonderful news! We replaced the fuse, bus fuse, and light bulb (quit working 2 years ago) and all is working. Thanks for the information and for the part diagram. Couldn't have done it without you. Read more

Dryer stopping mid-cycle or not heating consistently? The cycling thermostat regulates drum temperature. DIY-friendly repair, typically takes 30 minutes.
I don't have a multimeter so couldn't check all voltages or resistances on suspect parts. I assumed it had to be the two thermostat units - the thermostat or the dryer cycling thermostat. These were not expensive parts so ordered both and installed both. Very easy to remove back panel and replace with the new parts, making sure the OEM numbers were the same. Put back panel on, plugged back in and it fired right up - time will tell if these were the culprits. Not much left electronics wise on... Read more

Dryer not sensing when clothes are dry? Replace the moisture sensor bar to restore auto-dry cycles. Moderate DIY repair with video guide available.
After I cleaned out the typical 1.5 pounds of lint from the vent, ( I do it every 2 months), I went searching for a solution. I found 6 possible causes on this site and purchased everything except a new burner; I wasn't going to go that far. Let the fun begin. Since my vacuum was still nearby, I thought I was ready for anything. Wrong. After I watched all the videos again for reassurance, I went in with screwdriver in hand and laptop nearby. I removed the top and looked inside. Don't be fooled,... Read more
