I believe the shock absorbers were bad and caused too much stress on the spring, breaking it. I replaced the spring, spring protector, and shock absorbers. I got lucky; when I got the drum back up where it belonged I saw that the door boot seal straightened itself back out and wasn’t damaged so I didn’t have to replace it. No luck, I did the easy fixes first by replacing the shock absorbers then the springs to no avail. Looks like the problem is in the much more expensive and difficult spider arm. Read more
