I don’t think I needed the capacitor and relay, but while I was at it I figured I would. Originally we found we had an issue when water cane out of the ice maker. • Freezer not defrosting

I had had the same problem 4 or 5 years ago and spent close to $200 to repair it. I did have the slip from that repair with part #'s so I went ahead and ordered a defrost timer and thermostat. You-tube had plenty of videos on replacing those parts and even before they arrived I was able to add a switch and bypass the broken thermostat and start a cycle manually with the timer. I replaced the Thermostat and Defrost Timer. It was a fairly easy repair other than removing the old Defrost Timer. The way the manufacturer, in this case, Amana, mounts that unit with "clips" is just poor design and engineering. It is virtually impossible to get the timer out without damaging the mounts. Did some research via the internet and figured the problem was likely the moisture control board. Watched a video of the repair of a similar unit in order to locate the moisture control board. Used the chat feature with one of the Appliance Parts Pros to get a schematic of the dryer and advice about where to use the putty knife to release the springs for access to the board. Replaced the main circuit board, evaporator fan motor, and power supply. Probably did not need to change the power supply but did so just to be safe. Replaced the fan motor because I was advised it could be the cause of the circuit board failure. Got a rebuilt main circuit from Circuit Board Medic because new ones are no longer available.
