Kitchenaid Refrigerator Temperature Control, Cold Control

First I thought it was the defrost timer (talking to a friend). Replaced as $30+ dollar part and cheaper than a service call. Unfortunately, that did not help. Did some google searches and came across ApplicancePartsPros.com. They had a ton of useful information from chat availability to videos. Replace the thermostat kit. Watched a video on youtube and followed directions! So EASY!! Paid a repairman $250+ to replace the thermostat a couple of years ago. BTW - This repair was made by a woman - who says only guys can fix things!!! Read more

My fridge was often reaching 60-70 degrees but would work well when motor/fans were running; it just wasn't cooling regularly. I checked the coils, defrost, damper, and fans, and they all seemed to work, so that only left the cold control in terms of what I was willing to try to fix. Tested start relay and fan with multimeter both passed. The condenser would start only if the thermostat was on the highest setting and the refrigerator would cool for a while, stop and not restart unless I adjusted the defrost timer. Decided to replace the thermostat, defrost timer and defrost thermostat. The refrigerator is working as expected. FYI on a Kenmore 59669142992 the defrost timer is located under the freezer in the front right. Read more

I determined it was the thermostat, found the model number and Appliance Pros had one they said would work. So, I ordered one and got it in 2 days. Opened the package, read the instructions and 10 minutes later my new food was going to be cool and my water would be ice. All it took was remove housing, unplug old part, plug in new part and replace housing. Read more
