Kitchenaid Refrigerator Defrost Heater, Icing Kit, Fountain Heater

Having never fixed a fridge before, I did a little research. The unit was not old & the cooling system was operating. Observing the frozen ice inside, I diagnosed it as the heat rod and/or it's thermostat as bad. I contacted ApplianceParts Pros, who assisted in confirming my theory. Tried to put refrigerator in defrost mode and defrost would not initiate. Checked the bi-metal and heater, both tested good. Replaced the ADC board and refrigerator went in to defrost. problem solved. Read more

• Freezer not defrosting

After we moved into our new home, we realized that the freezer was very cold and the fins were frosting over, and the refrigerator wasn't cold. Total repair took slightly over 1 hour. Would have taken longer had I not already have taken the freezer apart on a previous occasion. Therefore I already knew the sequence and was able to disassemble it quickly. A little tricky getting the part out but easier to get it in. SImple repair for anyone mechanically inclined. Read more

The cooling coils were iced-up. The ice was blocking air flow to the refrigerator. This resulted in the freezer working fine while the refrigerator was warm. Called AppliancePartsPros and talked to Sally. Sally was a big help in troubleshooting the problem. I ordered and replaced the cooling coil heater. If you attempt to do this repair yourself, BE CAREFUL, the cooling coil fins are sharp. Read more

I removed the shelves and the shelf holders, took the back panel off, loosened the evaporator. Removed the heater element and the thermostat. Re-installed the evaporator the back panel, shelve holders and shelves. Then I located the defrost timer in the refrigerator. Read more
