Gas burners won't light or click erratically? A faulty spark module stops igniters from sparking. Moderate DIY repair—requires cooktop removal.
I first called an appliance service co. and they came the next day. They discovered it was the spark module but they did not have one in stock. They would call, when it was in, for a return visit. After a few days of waiting and lighting the burners by hand, I looked in the internet and found the AppliancePartsPros.com, and typed in my problem. They told me what I needed to do to fix it. I watched the video on replacing the part, and then ordered the part. It was here the next day. I took the... Read more

Loved the hot plate so as long as it was just me and my husband, I was all right with the lack of a cook top. When I cleaned up the cook top, I observed that one of the Control nobs has a piece of plastic protruding from the sleeve. Dah! I ordered a brand new set of Control Knobs and Knob Skirts to match and after I placed my order, I checked with Amber to see if the items were compatible with my cook top. Yes, they were ... (Thank you Amber). I installed the items I ordered with my hands,... Read more

This is a blower wheel used in the downdraft exhaust ventilation system of a range or cooktop. It mounts on the motor shaft and draws smoke, steam, and cooking odors down and out through the vent ductwork. Replace this part if the exhaust fan is noisy, vibrating excessively, or not moving air effectively despite the motor running.
I replaced the downdraft fan and fan motor of my 25 year old JennAire C301 cooktop. The issue was getting the fan/motor assembly out in such a tight place. I had to first remove the fan cover, cut the wires, then the assembly came out. Putting back wasn't as tough although getting the cover back on (over the motor) was a bit of a strain. Wired it back, turned it on, and was thrilled. Now I'll replace the knobs and burners and we're back in business. Read more

Easy fix, this was an identical match to the fan that was in the oven. The only thing missing was the foam strip, that easily came off the old fan assembly and stuck to the new one. The hardest thing was finding the part, and with a picture to verify. I have found appliancepros.com has a large list of available parts, easy to find in their inventory of available items, and some of the best prices as well. The surface burner orifice holder is a brass or metal fitting that threads into the gas valve and holds the orifice, which is the small precisely sized opening that controls how much gas flows to a cooktop burner. Together with the orifice, it regulates flame size and ensures proper combustion. Replace this part if a burner produces an uneven, weak, or oversized flame, or if the holder is damaged, corroded, or leaking gas at the burner connection.
Ordered a replacement holder with a new ceramic igniter and installed it. The new unit would not quite fit correctly on the Metal stand. It took only a couple of minutes with a large file to remove some of the metal on each side of the metal prongs that locate the holder onto the stand. Once done, it was an easy assembly job and works just fine. Note: I ordered two of the Torx screws along with the holder and discovered this is a necessity since the old stainless screws have a barrel... Read more
