First, I just unscrewed all nuts that are holding the frame and all surface elements. Once all parts, surface elements, control switches, are loose from the original glass, I just moved all parts to the new glass. Microwave has no power or won't start? A faulty cavity thermostat often causes complete shutdowns. This part restores temperature control in 5-10 minutes.
I attempted to diagnose the four thermostats/thermal switches in the microwave....two right behind the control panel, one on top of the cooking cabin, and one under a metal shroud above the magnetron. While checking continuity with a voltmeter, i questioned one of them behind the control panel and the one above the magnetron. I then noticed a burn mark on the plastic connector sleeve for the one above the magnetron. I took a scrap piece of 14 gage copper wire and beat the ends flat with a... Read more
Burner won't heat or heats unevenly? This surface element restores even heating to your electric range. Moderate DIY—requires top disassembly.
Installed replacement burner. Not a one-to-one fit where the wiring is concerned but everything needed to effect the change out was provided with the part. It is important to make notes of what was connected to what on the old one and to compare that to the new one. I used a download of the wiring diagram to good effect because it has the color code for the wiring on it. I am an engineer and can read such things which the average DIY'r might not be able to do so the notes will help. The... Read more
