Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM12406710)

Brian for Model Number RB197ACPN

I think the temperature sensor is faulty in the freezer because the display shows a temperature much higher than the actual temperature in the freezer. Also, I think the freezer may be cooling a lot more that what the desired temperature is set to. Can you tell me how to access the temperature sensor for the freezer? I pulled the cover from the freezer evaporator and saw one sensor mounted on top of the evaporator, but I don't think this is the freezer temperature sensor.

1 Answer

Brian, Normally there will be a small cover around the top of the freezer compartment that looks like a little oblong grill that would cover the sensor on the unit. Remove this piece to expose the sensor.

Bernie for Model Number RM257ABRS/

I have a Samson RM257ABRS 4 door refrigerator. It had ice buildup in the bottom of the freezer section this is the second time this has happened . A year ago I had the same problem I defrosted the refrigerator and removed the back of the freezer section and checked to make sure the drain was not clogged. I pored water down the drain and even put competed air though the tub to make sure it was not clogged. The ices has come back If the drain is not clogged what can cause this problem?

1 Answer

Hello Bernie. You will need to check and see if the drain is clogged again. If so, try cleaning out the trap on the drain line.

Gary, You will want to check the evaporator coil in the freezer to see if it is frozen up and make sure that the evaporator fan motor is working. If the coils are impacted with ice then test the defrost heater and defrost thermistor to make sure that they are good. If they check ok then the main board would be the issue. You will also want to test to make sure that the evaporator fan motor is working in the freezer which would have to be checked with the door switch closed because the fan shuts off when the door is open.

K.C.Taft Jr. This issue will most likely be caused by a faulty sensor on the evaporator coils. It sounds like the issue will be a defrost issue and you will want to test the sensor and the defrost heater.

Stanley for Model Number RF266ABRS

Water is leaking into the bottom of the refrigerator section. I have already tried twice pouring a cup of very hot water into the drain hole (the top of hole did not appeared plugged), using a hair dryer to melt most of the frost on the coil, and replacing the defrost temperature sensor. After replacing the sensor, there is still water leaking. It is mostly confined to the center (but slightly to the right) of the refrigerator. Any suggestions on fixing the leak? Could it be the aluminum foil on the cover and drain edge, or drain clip? BTW, I measured the old sensor and it show 4.7K ohms at 75F and 12.7K when immersed in a cup of ice water. Should I toss out the old sensor?

1 Answer

Stanley, The most likely cause for the leaking if the unit drain is cleared would be a evaporator cover that is causing the water to not flow properly. The part number that would be needed is DA97-06197B.

Tomm for Model Number RB195BSSW

My samsung fridge gas started beeping almost continuously. The super freeze icon flashes on and off when the beeping is occurring. I have pressed the super freeze and super cool buttons to reset (numerous times) as well as unplug and let sit a few minutes to no avail. The temp selector still works for the cool compartment but does not for the freezer so i can't adjust temp for freezer. It is a nice -6 degree and sometimes drops to -10 and -12 degrees on it's own. I suspect the main PCB board because we recently had a power outage where the lights went off, came on, went off.. 4 quick times. If my memory serves me right, it was just before the beeping started. If you feel it is the main PCB board, I will order, but it will be a few days before I can do so, as I have to set aside/budget the money. Here's thanking you in advance for your input.

1 Answer

Hello Tom. It does sound like the main board in the unit. It sounds like the buttons are working properly. If so, replace the main board in the unit.

Hello Baker. This would indicate an issue with the sealed system and you will need an HVAC tech to come out and repair the unit.

Larry L for Model Number RF260BEAESR/AA mfr date Sept 2012

We have a 3-year old Samsung refrigerator and the water supply line to the ice maker in the freezer drawer keeps freezing up. It has never made ice very well (2 trays per day at best) and stopped altogether about 6 months ago. We had just replaced the water filter (do that annually) but reinstalling the old filter didn't help. Water supply is good. I replaced the ice maker assembly with no improvement. Used a hair dyer to thaw the supply line and it made half-trays of ice every couple hours for about a day. Have repeated that scenario (thaw, works for a day, fails) twice. We can hear it dump the empty tray and the water valve opens but no water goes into the tray. Any ideas before we break down and call for service?

1 Answer

Larry, On the fill tube of the icemaker there is a heater. If this heater has failed it will cause the fill tube to freeze up. The part number that would be needed for this issue would be DA97-00209Z.
