Brian S for Model Number gu2500xtps3

I have model# gu2500xtps3 (quiet partner III) and it has the "blinking 7 times" clean LED. I ran it through the diag cycle several times and it shows no problems. Water is HOT. I run the diag, then open and close the door, then the light stops. SO...I fill the dw up with dirty dishes and run it again. Gets to 52 minutes every time then goes immediately to 2 minutes. Then clean LED blinks 7 times again. since the diag mode shows no problem, what else could it be? Bad heater element? Something clogged somewhere? I dont want to spend $125 for a new board if that isnt going to fix it.

1 Answer

Brian, The clean light blinking 7 times indicates a faulty heater circuit. Look for the heater to be open, an open connection in the heater circuit or faulty heater drive on the control. 1. Unplug the dishwasher or disconnect power. 2 Check all components and connections in the water heating circuit or heat dry circuit. Check resistance of heater. If heater is reading open then replace. If heater checks ok then you will want to check the wiring and components that are in the circuit between heater and control. If you find faulty component then replace or broken wires will need to be repaired. If this checks ok then you will need to replace the control board.

I noticed some large carpenter ants going into my dishwasher panel after my dishwasher quit working. After taking the panel off and cleaning all the ants out from inside the panel(there was also a nest on the control panel) the dishwasher worked fine for about a few months. During a cycle (a few minutes) my dishwasher decided to quit working. I took it apart again but could not get it to work. I tried reseting the diagnostics as I have read on your site and others using different button combinations. I have also held in the cancel button and hear a faint motor running. I have also unplugged and plugged the dishwaher in varying time allotments. The only lights I have on is the accusense. It is either constantly on or continously blinking. From what I have read it appears it could be the fuse (I checked the continuity and it is good) or the control panel. I guess it is the control panel. Is this your assessment and should I also purchase the fuse as a preventitive measure. Thank you.

Hello RMR. No, it is not the fuse. There would be no lights or noise from the unit if it were the fuse. It sounds like the control board WP8564547 and panel WP3385744 will need to be replaced on the unit.

Hello Robin. Disconnect the power and remove the screws securing the control panel to the unit. Then remove the cover off the control board and access the board. Release the clips securing the board to the panel and remove the wires and ribbon cable from the board. Install new control board WP8564547 in reverse order.

Hello Richard. Disconnect the power to the unit. Open the door and remove the screws around the inner door liner. Pull liner away from door and remove the cover box over the control board. Next release the tabs on the board and lift out the old control board. Remove the wires and the thermal fuse from the old board. Install the new control board WP8564547 in reverse order.

Hello Leo, This sounds like the control has a welded relay on it. If turning the power off to the unit for ten minutes doesn't change the operation, the control board will require replacement as long as there are no shorts in the harness, (neutral side of the circuit).

The clean light blinking 7 times is a fault code for the water heating circuit on board the unit. If the control doesn't see a predetermined increase of temperature in a set amount of time, the code will flash. First off, be sure you always run the hot water at the sink before starting a cycle to shorten the wash cycle. The most probable cause of this fault code is the heating element going open. Other possible causes are the door switch WP8269209, the control board WP8564543, the Hi-limit thermostat WP661566, and the wiring harness. Of course the first thing I would recommend is to visually inspect the heating element Heating element kit- This dishwasher heating element is for stainless steel tubs only. Includes a new computer board that needs to be replaced along with the element. For plastic tubs use W10518394. Part Number: 8194200 . If it has burned in to of course it will need replacement. If there is a white place, or much lighter place present it will need to be tested to ensure your not replacing a good part. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html . The wiring diagram should be found behind the kick panel and will guide you to the fore-mentioned components which you may need to test. After repair you will also have to place the unit into the diagnostic mode to reset the control so it can run through cycles again. This procedure is as follows: On the control panel....heated dry, normal, heated dry, normal - OR - High temp, air dry, high temp, air dry. These keys must be pressed within 10 seconds to set the control into diagnostics. At this point you can allow it to go all the way through the self-diagnostic cycle or you can press cancel.

Debbie P. for Model Number Whirlpool Dishwasher GU2500 XTPS3

The dishwasher won't start...or rather, starts sometimes; appears to be some kind of issue with the control panel? This has been an on-going problem for the past couple of years. The lights come on, but the start button doesn't always work. We replaced the fuse about a year ago, and everything worked fine until now. In order to start the dishwasher, I have to push "delay", then the cycle, then "start," and then push the delay button until the washer starts. Now, even that is not working. When I finally got the dishwasher to start, it wasn't in the cycle I had selected, it ran about 5 minutes, and stopped, but the lights were still on and I had "- -" where the cycle length normally appears. Lights won't go out unless I unplug the dishwasher for an extended period of time. Any ideas, or time to get a new machine?

Hello Norm. Check and make sure the float is not stuck in the up position. If the float and the float switch is good, you will test for power coming to the water valve. If there is power coming to the valve, and not water, replace the water valve. If there is no power there, and the float is good, replace the control board WP8564547. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Hello Nicolas. Press heated dry, normal, heated dry, normal, heated dry, normal, with the unit in stand by mode. The unit will power on and run a short cycle. Let it complete the cycle and clear the codes in the unit. The bad wire caused the code you have.
