For Whirlpool Dishwasher Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM18056139)

1 Answer

Steve, If the control lights are rotating around when the unit is cycling then it would more than likely be a problem with corrosion on the ribbon harness for the keypad or a bad keypad/control panel.

Jack,You should be able to manually activate and move the latch lever to verify the latch works and the door opens. You'll need to run the diagnostic test mode, and check for 120 VAC on the wires to the dispenser solenoid with a multi meter. Otherwise you option is the check the two brown wires from the dispenser solenoid back to the control board. If the wires are OK, and tightly attached to the solenoid and control board connector, you'll need to replace the control board WPW10285179 .

Steve for Model Number kuds40fvss3

Dishwasher has had intermittent drainage failure. It now won't drain at all. I tried a new drain pump, but that didn't fix it. I am wondering about the control board. When I use cancel to force the drain cycle, there is an audible click but no pump activity. Voltage at the drain pump measures about 45 volts after the click from the control board. Do you know what the voltage to the pump should be? Does this sound like a board problem or might I have 2 bad pumps? Thanks,

1 Answer

Hello Steve, The power coming to the pump should be 120 vac. If you are only getting 45 vac then you will want to check the wiring from the pump to control board and insure that there is not loose or broken wiring. If this checks ok the you would need new control board.

Giorgio, Based on your post information, your most likely issue is a "glitch" in the control board fill valve circuit or the "chip" in the control board WPW10285179. You may want to try conducting the service diagnostic cycle to reset the control " To invoke the Diagnostics Cycle, perform the following key presses or actions in less than 6 sec while in standby: Heated Dry ? Normal ? Heated Dry ? Normal " allow the cycle to advance until it shuts off. " Invoking Service Diagnostics clears all status and last ran information from memory and restores defaults; It also forces the next cycle to be a sensor calibration cycle." If the issue persists, then replace the control board.

Bill, You may not need either part. First, check and make sure the electrical connections in the junction box on the dishwasher lower frame (behind the kick plate) have not shorted out or separated, due to the voltage spikes. Then check the control panel thermal fuse W10258275 and door switch WP8269209 circuits, a voltage spike can also effect these parts as well, and if either components are open or shorted, the dishwasher will act as if theres no power to it.
