Hi Karl. Have you removed the toe kick panel and accessed the tech. sheet? You then will be able to follow it and put it in a field service test. This will help decipher what area to focus on a potential problem. It sounds like the keypad might have an issue. This part # is WP9744109. Thank you.

Hi Jim. Press cancel to reset the unit for a new cycle. It will initiate a drain/pump out and then turn off. Double check the float switch to insure the float stem is properly placed on the float switch. This will allow the water valve to fill the tub. Double check the ribbon cable to insure that it is not pinched and tightly connected. Make sure the child lock is not on. Make sure the unit is level and the door latch/switches are engaged when closed. Are your electrical supply wire nuts tight in the electrical box. Behind the toe kick panel is a tech. sheet which provides info. how to initiate a field service test. Please let us know if we can help further. Thank you.

Hi Bruce. You need to check the ribbon cable going from the control panel to the control board. With all the symptoms you have described if you isolate between the 2 and use an ohm meter on the ribbon cable to press the command and see if you have ohms. I would change the control panel part # is WP8051710. This is for white. Thank you.

Shaun for Model Number Whirlpool DP920PFGy4 Dishwasher

HI, I just purchased a Whirlpool DP920PFGY4 dishwasher used. The machine cycles fine and works wonderful except that ONLY the Heavy Cycle button and Pots and Pans cycle buttons work. The cancel button does nothing when pushed as well as the other buttons don't work. I took the panel off to see the circuit board and it's loaded with what appears to be rust or some sort of rusty colored flakes that look a lot like the inside of a cigarette. I disconnected the terminals and put them back together and wiped away what I could. Then attempted to press buttons and see if I got a response. The rinse only button now works and the Heavy cycle and pots and pans cycles still work great but the other buttons do nothing when pushed. MY QUESTION IS... Do you believe that purchasing the circuit board control will solve the problem or do you believe that the problem possibly lies in the actual buttons themselves? I have heard of this problem being very common. I notice on your site and other sites that you can purchase the circuit board only and then there are sites selling the entire "control Panel" but I'm wondering does that entire control panel complete with the physical front plate with buttons have the circuit board with it or is that to be purchased separately? Lastly, what do you think my best solution should be that would solve this problem. Thank you for listening and your help. I apologize for my long winded email. Thank you for your expedited response. Sincerely, Shaun Bayles Long time Whirlpool customer.

Hello Shaun! The control panel WP8051702 does not include the control board WP8530929. From the description provided, you will need to change out the control panel only. Thanks.

Hello Paul. You will need to check the impeller WP8274950 and make sure it is good, and the water level inside the tub. If the impeller is bad, you will need to change the seal kit 675703 as well. If the impeller is good, make sure the water is up to the bottom of the heater. If the water is low, you will need to replace the valve W10844024. The board does control the directions of the motor. Hope this helps.
