Jeff 1 July 31, 2012 for Model Number ZDI15CBBN NOT MAKING ICE 1. Unit turns on runs through full cycle - everything seems normal except Ice slab is NOT forming on Freezing plate - water just keeps passing over top of it. a. Condenser is free of all lint b. Fan is working Thoughts ????
1 Answer Hello Jeff. You need to check and see if the compressor is running on the unit. If not, then the control may ba bad and not starting the compressor. Read More...
Bob C. July 29, 2012 for Model Number GI1500XHWO 15" Whirlpool floor standing I have replaced the circuit board, the water valve and the water pump. I turned the unit on and it made ice, however after a few cycles of ice, it stopped making ice again. I took a flashlight and looked at the freezing plate and there was a slab of ice with a mound of ice in the middle that is keeping the ice slab from releasing and sliding onto the cutter grid. Whats next for me to do?
1 Answer Hello Bob, If the holes in the water dispenser stop up with mineral deposits and debris from the water supply, the center holes tend to allow more water to pass that the ends. With this in mind, I believe it's time for you to clean the unit. There is a special cleaner WX08X42870 for these free standing units that prevents damage to the evaporator. It is nickel safe to protect the material the evaporator coil is made of, (high nickel content). Read More...
Bob C. July 22, 2012 for Model Number G1500xhw0 15 " whirlpool floor model See my first question at the top of the page.. I purchased the new control board from you .Installed it. Now the machine is making ice again , However it still goes in to the surging mode because the water pump is not getting water. After a while it starts pumping water and making ice again. If I shut off the ice maker and restart it it starts pumping water into the resevior and pumping water to the plate. Seems like the NEW control board is flaky just like my old one only not as bad. It looks like these boards are rebuilt? is it possible that the relays were not replaced on this new board or is there anything else in the system that would cause this problem. I appreciate your help.
1 Answer Hello Bob. It sounds like the water valve W10801996 may not be bringing water into the unit at all times. If so, replace the valve. If the unit runs like there is water, but there is none, replace the pump WP2217220 on the unit. Read More...
Bob C. July 15, 2012 for Model Number GI1500xhw0 My ice machine makes ice, however, after the ice drops and it should start making ice again the water bowl does not fill so the pump cannot get the water. If I shut the unit off and then back on, it starts pumping water to the bowl and making ice again. I have replaced the water valve.
1 Answer Hello Bob, The only thing I can think of that will cause this is a sticking contact in one of the relays on the control board WP2304016. Read More...
Dsquick July 11, 2012 for Model Number kuis18nnjb8 My ice machine seems to be stuck in defrost. I turn the machine on and the plates start heating up. No water is running. I can't even make water run if I put it into the clean mode. Any clues?
1 Answer Hello, This sounds like a sealed system issue. Sounds like the reversing valve 2208467 is stuck in the defrost position. The reversing valve reverses the circulation of the freon to cause the cold coils to become the hot coils for the harvest of the cubes. After the harvest cycle, the reversing valve is supposed to reverse the freon circulation again to cause the evaporator coil to get cold again. KUIS18NNJB8 Read More...
Ronnie J July 05, 2012 for Model Number Kitchen Aid KUIA18NNJS4 After the unit runs for a while it goes into cleaning mode for no reason. I have dried everything out and the problem continues.
1 Answer Ronnie, check and make sure there is plenty of water to the fill valve. Slow or low pressure will cause the accumulative circuit in the control board to turn the clean light on. If the water pressure is proper, then you'll need a new control board WP2304016. Read More...
Teemech June 24, 2012 for Model Number 106.89482995 I've just changed the evaporator on this unit. I push the Clean button for it's first cleaning. Then selected the On button on the control board, and everything is working fine. Until it completed it'e first harvest of ice. Now I found the Clean light blinking. Well, I started another clean cycle; then another Normal cycle. Again, after the ice harvested, I got a blinking clean light. It's got to be the control board; right?
1 Answer Hi Teemech. The green clean light may also mean that the condenser coils need cleaned. Use compressed air to insure they are cleaned. Make sure the condenser fan assy. part # W10822259 is turning up to speed and the fan blade is clean. On the rt.of the bin there is a bin thermister. The thermostat WPW10503764 can be tested for ohms with a meter. It should read around 10K at room temperature. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Thank You. Read More...
Steve June 19, 2012 for Model Number kuis185jwh3 Once the bin is full the water seems to keep circulating over the feeze plate which freezes to a big block of ice that will not release to the cutting grid. How is this resolved?
1 Answer Hello Steve. If the unit is over filling and does not stop, it sounds like the bin thermostat WPW10503764 will need to be replaced in the unit. Read More...

Randy 3 February 08, 2012 for Model Number KUIA15NRHS6 Correction to previous postings 1. Correct model KUI15NRHS6 2. Yes the resevoir gets filled with water (fill valve work fine) 3. recirculating pump runs continuesly ( not sure how long will time it this evenig) 4. The freezing plate doesent seem to get cold enough to start the ice making process. water just runs continuesly over the plate. (I know there is a term for when the plate changes (freezing the water and releasing the slab) temperature but cant rememeber it)
1 Answer Randy3, have you checked and made sure, the evaporator thermistor is mounted to the evaporator properly WPW10683580 and check the reversing valve solenoid WPW10683580 and valve W10724988 are not sticking open or being energized from the control board WP2304016,during the ice maling process. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
