Bob, It would be recommended to check the agitator dogs for this issue as it will be the most likely cause for the noise.

Beni, Since the pump is directly attached to the motor you should remove the pump from the motor while leaving the drain hoses connected to it and see it the motor spins on a spin setting. It is possible that the drain has seized up or has debris in it [sock] and keeping the motor from moving. WP3363892 There is a video under the part number on our site for this repair. Do not remove the drain hoses if there is water in the tub or it will come out onto the floor.

Chris, you will want to check that the inner basket moves freely. If the basket does not rotate freely, then this can stop the motor from operating properly. If it does not rotate freely, then you may have a brake/drive W10820043 issue or a gear case 3360629 issue. Another thing to check for is to make sure that the motor coupling is in good condition. There should not be any breaks or stretched out portions of the coupling. If there is, then this indicates a gearcase issue or failure from time and use. If none of these have occurred, then you may have a clutch WP8299642 that is not engaging properly

Bob, In order for the washer to drain and spin, the lid switch has to be activated. You'll need to check the 3949247V Lid Switch and wiring to the timer, check the WP358684 Strike to make sure it's not broken or missing and activating the lid switch, then check the lid hinge bearings WP21258 to make sure they haven't deteriorated causing the lid to be out of alignment .

Lou Rebelo for Model Number Kenmore 80 series 110.26822692

Washer will spin during drain after 1st cycle(wash). but in the rinse cycle spin fails. I can hear water pour in, pump working, dial advance, but not spin (feel no vibration). Dial is on "spin". I open lid and see agitator not moving but will jiggle slightly to left and hear a click. I close the lid and it will start spinning. This happenas on regular wash and permanent wash cycles. I have replaced the lid switch, It worked on the first wash and then back to failing. After the wash cycle is finished, if I move the dial to "spin" on any cycle of the dial and close the lid, the washer will spin. Last year I replaced the lid switch because the macine would fill up for rinse and stop. Dial would not move forward. That was on the original lid switch. Any hints, suggestions, questions is greatly appreciated.

Hello Lou, we were unable to locate an exact wiring diagram for your Kenmore unit but from the issues you are experiencing it sounds like the issue could be a faulty contact point inside timer part number WP3950200 or a lose connection at the timer/motor. Hope this helps!
