Tom for Model Number JED8345ADW Downdraft fan sounds louder than normal and stops after about 30 seconds. After a 10-15 minutes wait, fan will run again for 30 seconds. There is an unusual odor around cooktop after running fan. Fan motor housing feels warm to touch after running fan. What is the problem and what is the remedy? Thanks for your help.
Answer Tom, the motor would need to be tested for 120VAC at the red wire during a low spin. If there is a constant 120VAC, the motor WP74005785 has failed and would need to be replaced. It is likely that the windings are bad and causing the motor to overheat. If there is not a constant 120VAC, the fan switch would need to be tested for 120VAC at the yellow wire and the red wire. If there is a constant voltage at the yellow wire but not the red, the contacts in the switch W10341820 are failing and would need to be replaced. If there is not a constant 120VAC at the yellow wire, the relay 12001452 would need to be replaced. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, May 19, 2020
