Well the range was only 5 years old and there was a recall around the time of purchase I wasn't aware of for the exact problem - elements turning on by themselves etc. regardless Sears insisted that it wasn't the same issue. After numerous screwups by Sears Repair in changing appointment times, they finally assessed issue and they claimed they had never seen this problem before. It required that you take off the top of the stove. The micro switch is between the inside pan for the burners and the outer frame that holds the complete stove top in place. The removal of the screws and nuts that hold the switch in place was not to bad, but you had to make sure that the nuts did not drop down into the outer pan. Turned OFF the CIRCUIT BREAKER for the RANGE at home electric control panel. Checked RANGE to verify power to entire RANGE was OFF by observing that control panel and OVEN lights were OFF and no burner operation.
