My tenant thought that the oven safety valve was bad, but after some research, I found that the transfer of heat from the igniter had to be sufficient enough to cause the valve to open.Your agent confirmed this and reassured me that even if the igniter was glowing, there was a 99% chance that it wasn't getting hot enough. Replaced the old valve with a new one from AppliancePartsPros.com. I watched one of the YouTube videos to get an idea of what the process would entail. I gathered the tools I would require, plus a work light. The repair/replacement went pretty good. One thing the video I watched didn't cover was adjusting the valve for a propane system. Bought a Thermador PRSE48" dual fuel range from Craigslist really cheap because it didn't work. Did a little research and decided to overhaul most of the top (gas) end. For what I paid for it it was worth it and I'd have a good stove with new components. After turning off the gas and unplugging the electricity, I removed all the burners from the stove top using a 3/16" hex socket. Then used a 1/4" socket to removed two or three screws under each burner which hold the burner base to the bottom of the top panel. Then pulled all the knobs and removed the front panel which was held in by two Phillips screws accessible from underneath the panel. It helps to open the oven door to get at these screws. I found I could "rap" on my broiler/oven control valve and the oven would light, so I ordered a new control valve. Installing valve was not difficult except for having to lay on the floor and work in a small space. After installation, the oven lit only ONE time...and the boiler/oven problem was unchanged....broiler would light, but not oven. This is my go-to site to fix the appliances around the house. The pressure regulator behind the stove was leaking and some of the burner valves would not shut off completely. Removed burners, grates, removed cook top,took screws out from raised trim and wells for burners. Removed electric connection for burner igniters and took gas connection off of valve that goes to burners. Took out screw that holds in gas valve in gas manifold. Replaced gas connections to burners on new valves, installed new valves and trim . Read more

From the Appliance Parts website I watched a 3 minute Youtube video. The video actually explained the process on another range but it was enough information for me to do the project myself. The part came 2nd day UPS and I installed it in under an hour. The only hitch was that I didn't see the note (maybe it wasn't there) that explained how the valve is set for Natural gas and that for LP gas I'd need to adjust the jet that goes into the burner tube.
