Frigidaire Range Valve

My tenant thought that the oven safety valve was bad, but after some research, I found that the transfer of heat from the igniter had to be sufficient enough to cause the valve to open.Your agent confirmed this and reassured me that even if the igniter was glowing, there was a 99% chance that it wasn't getting hot enough. Replaced the old valve with a new one from AppliancePartsPros.com. I watched one of the YouTube videos to get an idea of what the process would entail. I gathered the tools I would require, plus a work light. The repair/replacement went pretty good. One thing the video I watched didn't cover was adjusting the valve for a propane system. I compared my old valve to the new one and saw that I would have to screw down the oven gas outlet until it "bottomed out". Read more

After turning off the gas and unplugging the electricity, I removed all the burners from the stove top using a 3/16" hex socket. Then used a 1/4" socket to removed two or three screws under each burner which hold the burner base to the bottom of the top panel. Then pulled all the knobs and removed the front panel which was held in by two Phillips screws accessible from underneath the panel. It helps to open the oven door to get at these screws. Called repairman who diagnosed the problem. He said burner valve would cost around $125. I went online and found it for $35. Sears direct cost $43. Repairman installed and works great. Appliance parts was same part for less and shipped overnight for $9. Read more

From the Appliance Parts website I watched a 3 minute Youtube video. The video actually explained the process on another range but it was enough information for me to do the project myself. The part came 2nd day UPS and I installed it in under an hour. The only hitch was that I didn't see the note (maybe it wasn't there) that explained how the valve is set for Natural gas and that for LP gas I'd need to adjust the jet that goes into the burner tube. I called AppliancePartsPros.com to see if they carried the parts that I needed. They knew what parts I needed and they were in stock. When the valves arrived I took the stove apart and replaced the valves. The valves were easy to replace with a minimum amount of tools: A screwdriver, adjustable end wrench, and a 1/4" drive socket set. I have all the tools necessary to do this job, but if I didn't and had to buy them, it would still be less expensive than hiring a repair person to do this job... Read more
