Refrigerator Handle

At first my epoxy glue job worked for about three years, but finally gave out. The handle broke at the top where it screws to the door. The part to fix it was ordered from AppliancePartsPros.com and it arrived in a few days. It was intact and installed easily—good as new. The only issue with the part is the cost. It is a piece of plastic that shouldn’t cost $150. That’s 20% of the cost of the refrigerator! Read more

Remove old handle: (2) large Phillips-head screws where it attaches to top edge of refrigerator door, back out (1)set screw lower end off handle- needs very small hex wrench. Retain screws: none supplied with new handle. Place new handle in place (need to back out the set screw on bottom of handle to slide it fully into place before tightening). Install (2) screws on top end, and snug the lower setscrew. DONE. Read more

First had to clean inside the empty freezer, that was the hard part. removed old gasket and cleaned inside the track in the door. had the new gasket well warmed and in the right shape. put new gasket in track. seating it firmly. It was very easy. I did watch a couple of online videos to get the general idea of what it detailed. Took the handles and screw covers out of package and in two minutes, all was installed and looking great. Read more

Threaded bases for two roller screws were ~ 80% broken off. Used a short (just barely extends past the end of the roller) sheet metal screw to secure the roller in the upper sliding section of the handle (handle in place first). The head was thick enough to fill the gap between the roller and the cover. Filling that gap accurately is important. Need to keep the roller pushed into the recessed area in the door. I ordered a new handle from Applisnce Parts Pros. It fit the refrigerator perfectly. I reused some of the old screws and ordered one new screw with a cover to attach the bottom of the handle. Now the refrigerator looks as good as new! Read more
