Carbon Brush, Drum Motor
Genuine Bosch part
By: Bosch
Part Number: 00154740

The Carbon brush, drum motor is an OEM part for Bosch washing machines. These carbon brushes are responsible for transferring electrical current from the commutator on the motor to power the rotary movement inside the washing machine drum.  Two come per package.

Symptoms of a bad carbon brush, or drum motor can include:

  • noisy or squealing sounds coming from the motor during the operation
  • the drum fails to spin or spin inconsistently
  • the washer is unable to enter spin cycles
  • slow or reduced agitation

Causes of a bad part include normal wear and tear over extended use. As the brushes continuously contact the commutator, friction can cause them to wear down over time.

This OEM Bosch part is also compatible with Thermador, Gaggenau, and some Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Worn out bearings   Linda B. • San Diego , CA • November 23, 2015

After watching the video carefully and taking notes for step-by-step dismantling of the LG washer, I took it apart methodically placing each item on a table in the order removed. I was able to remove and replace the bearings with no problems following the tips and tricks. The spider did not seem to be in bad shape but since I had a new one, it seemed reasonable to replace it as well, but it was difficult to extract the old one from the drum. The bolts are assembled with weld glue, so it is a... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg washer would not drain   Terry D. • Akron , OH • April 11, 2017

I sat an watched a wash cycle. When it came to drain cycle I could hear the pump making a grinding noise! Door bellow seal leaked too. I ordered new pump and housing, new door bellows seal. The clearance of the pump impeller and housing are real important. I have jet Skies and I knew it is an issue. Watched the video on the repair. Gave me all the instructions to take it apart. One thing it did not show. Lube the new seal mating surface with laundry detergent. It went right on. I have never... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Washer started vibrating and smoking when spinning the door seal showed damage from the inner tub and the inner tub had a lot of up and down play in it   Dan R. • Woodbine , IA • March 13, 2015

An online search for LG washing machine parts came up with a repair video from Appliance Parts Pros. I watched the video. It was very well done, very detailed, and took you step by step through the entire process to replace the tub bearings and the spider, from start to finish. After watching the video, I realized this repair was well within my abilities. No specialized tools were needed. I ordered the parts from Appliance Parts Pros, and all items were in stock and delivered within a couple... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Loud banging and imbalance during spin cycle   Robert V. • Las Vegas , NV • January 03, 2016

My problem was a broken spider. I followed your excellent video, but have some additional input that should be incorporated in a new video showing the required upgrade procedures and parts required to repair an early model with damaged front tub half using currently available parts. Don't expect everything to go as easy as the video. 1) Used 4lb. brass hammer to drive shaft from bearings. 2) Torqued spider bolts to 20ft lbs. with thread locking compound. 3) attached rubber seal to front tub... Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Leaking washing machine replaced rubber door boot..   Gerhard P. • Dagsboro , DE • November 04, 2019

Fixing was easy and took approximately 1 hour. I have a Bosch Axxis washing machine and all parts came exactly as ordered and within 2 days of order. I had to take off front and top panel and the door switch. The new wire and spring was part of the order and I had to pay for it. The old parts looked fine to me and I could have reused them but since I had the new ones, I replaced them anyhow. I wish I would have the option to buy the rubber gasket only. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You No power to start dishwasher   Joe M. • Knoxville , TN • April 17, 2020

Checked circuit breaker to d/w first. Good. Went to website to see no power issues. Most all of them mentioned the noise filter being the problem. Removed filter from machine and found the corner melted where fuse is located. Ordered new filter, installed, and now have power to switches. All the information I found on the website really made this a easy job to get done. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You My lg washer was displaying te error code   Diane S. • Vancleave , MS • May 13, 2014

I looked online ans read where the tE error code meant the thermistor was bad. I then found a video on YouTube showing how to replace the part. On AppliancePartsPros.com I chatted with a technician that told me the thermistor on my particular model was built into the heater unit and he gave me the link to purchase it. After it arrived via FedEx I followed the repair video and installed it myself (I'm a girl). So far I have run about a half dozen loads and no problems! Thank you so much... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You The washer sounded like a jet plane when it went through the spin cycle very loud noise   Lane C. • Pleasant Garden , NC • February 24, 2015

I originally thought the washer had a bad bearing, but once I got it disassembled it the spider arms were broken. This required the replacement of the tub assembly. While replacing the tub I replaced all of the water bellows. The parts came quickly, the live chat and videos were very helpful. This washer has to be completely disassembled to replace the drum, so mark all the screw locations, tag and bag everything and take lots of pics. It was a very rewarding project and hundreds of dollars... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Loud noise during spin cycle   Steven S. • Celina , OH • March 10, 2019

I started by watching the video and it was very helpful. I would make one suggestion. On our model the weights on the tub sit very close to the front gasket. It is much easier to put the gasket on the tub before you put the weights on. Also, since the washer was tore apart, I replaced the hoses and seals and shocks since the machine is about 8 years old. The shocks made a huge difference. It spins like it did when it was new. Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Loud noise during the spin cycle   Greg H. • Londonderry , NH • June 20, 2017

My first step after realizing the loud noise came from the main bearing of our LG washer was to order the necessary parts for the repair that A.P.P. recommends. Using Appliance PartsPros.com as my main source for parts and video I began by watching Mitch repair a washer similar to ours. Mitch made it look easy enough and being a repair person myself I thought ok no issue here. So, following A.P.P's suggestions I ordered all the parts and added the main door gasket and spider. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Lg washer/dryer combo unit shook upper counter balance weight loose damaging the mount lugs on the tub cover and tore the tub gasket   Christine V. • Saluda , VA • March 28, 2020

The upper counter-balance weight mount design is a poor design to begin with. It started to rattle loose approximately 5yrs into the 8yrs that we've owned it. As it would start to loosen up (as evidenced by the loud banging noise exhibited during operation); I'd shut it down, pull the top off, remove the weight (it was almost always half rattled off at this point), wrap the mount lugs with friction tape (the plastic lugs were being worn down/chaffed by the balance weight), put the weight back...
