Not making ice? This ice maker assembly is the common fix. Most DIYers complete replacement in 25-30 minutes with a socket and screwdriver.
After researching a number of sites for a diagnosis I tended to think the culprit was going to be the ice maker thermostat. Checking pricing and availability of the thermostat prices were very close at $40 BUT wait now you have to but the thermo mastic at another $35-$40. And after some continued research the factory ice maker in a $3000 msrp 4 door refrigerator was/is known to be defective long after warranty period expires. So it only made intelligent sense to buy the entire icemaker at a... Read more

Interior lights staying on or not working? This door switch controls refrigerator lighting and functions. Moderate DIY repair with video guide available.
I watched the video on replacing the switch on a side freezer where prying out to original switch did not look difficult. I then got on the floor and tried to pry out my switch. Had a terrible time (locking tab or switch body hardened with time?) and mangled the switch terribly and the upper panel of the freezer somewhat, but the switch did come out. AND THEN the top freezer panel with the switch and light assembly fell out into my hands! I was able to unplug one Molex connector and the... Read more
Replace your worn refrigerator door gasket to restore the tight seal that keeps cold air in. Easy push-in installation takes 10 minutes. Verify fit with your model.
The tray was simple, pick up the old one, pop in the new one. The gasket for my refrigerator was almost as easy. When I received the part I opened it up and let it lay flat for about 3 days (probably overkill). The old gasket popped right out and the new one went in really easy. The entire job took me about 10 minutes to do, no tools required. I do recommend that you start with corners and work your way to the middle of each side. I found that would prevent any stretching. You also need to... Read more

Fix a refrigerator that won't cool, has a blank display, or won't defrost. This electronic control board manages temperature and cycles. 15-minute DIY repair.
Given all the symptoms, we figured that the control board went out. First, unplug the refrigerator. The control board was easy to access by removing a panel on the back of the fridge. I unplugged all the connectors and used a putty knife to release the board from the plastic retaining clips. There was some browning on the underside of the board and the back of the refrigerator that suggests one of the capacitors on the board blew. Install the new board by pressing it into the retaining clips... Read more

Supports the refrigerator door hinge for smooth opening and closing. Replace this pivot block if it's cracked, worn down, or broken to restore proper alignment.
We turned off the circuit breaker. We then removed the light cover and then the control panel. We disconnected the Keyboard, Utah, plugged in the new one and turned the breaker on to see if everything worked. We realized that we did not need a new jazz board so that is being returned. The old Keyboard was removed, the new one attached and all the parts were put back. The frig works fine now at the recommended settings of zero and 38F. Read more
Replacement crisper shelf frame for refrigerators. Supports glass and organizes crisper drawers. Replace if cracked, broken, or sagging. Glass not included.
So this is a poor design in the first case. Not having a center support in the back almost guarantees a failure there eventually. I kludged together a support in my original more than a year ago, but finally the part broke too bad to limp along with anymore. This is the part I needed. That being said, be very attentive about the fact that it's not the entire shelf assembly. There is a metal support across the front of the frame that is not included. The trim above the drawers, and the... Read more

Freezer icing up or fridge too warm? The defrost heater melts frost from evaporator coils to restore cooling. Typical DIY repair takes 20 minutes-2.5 hours.
Having never fixed a fridge before, I did a little research. The unit was not old & the cooling system was operating. Observing the frozen ice inside, I diagnosed it as the heat rod and/or it's thermostat as bad. I contacted ApplianceParts Pros, who assisted in confirming my theory. IMPORTANT NOTE: the sales advisor Joyce was truly an intelligent, knowledgable professional, NOT some "burger-order taker" usually encountered. This alone speaks VOLUMES. Subsequently, the parts arrived... Read more
Replacement crisper pan for bottom-mount refrigerators. Stores fruits and vegetables in the fresh food compartment. Replace if cracked, broken, or missing.
The manual had instructions for pulling things apart, the flaps over the drawer tops and the clear plastic inserts in the shelf. Flaps--Easiest to work with when the shelf is out and upside down. Slide flaps to the side a little to release the axle pin on the flaps from the receptacle hole on the shelf frame. Clear plastic plates are held in with a plastic pin on the side of the shelf frame. Carefully pull the side off the shelf there away from the pin slot until the insert pops out.... Read more
Fix a noisy or non-cooling refrigerator with this condenser fan motor. Solves overheating compressor issues. DIY-friendly repair with video guide.
I bought the listed condenser fan motor for my Maytag refrigerator. Access to the condenser fan is by removing sheet metal screws of bottom panel with 1/4 in. nut driver. Condenser fan is on left side of rear access area. Remove electrical connector by pressing-in connector release tab with thumb fingernail and pulling on connector. Remove three mounting screws with 5/16 nut driver. Work fan out to the right past the compressor. I used a pair of pliers, as a lever, behind the plastic fan blades... Read more
Ice dispenser not working or only dispensing sometimes? The auger motor powers ice ejection from the storage bin. DIY-friendly repair in under an hour.
I first thought it was the auger in the ice container so I changed it and it was not the problem. I then talked to ApplianceParts customer service that it might be the yoke on the motor that turned the auger or even the motor itself even though it worked. I ordered the parts, the yoke was supposed to be able to be changed by itself but mind would not come off the motor shaft so I had to cut it off just to remove it from the unit so I had to change the motor anyway because of this. So I advise... Read more
