Replaced filter cap with new one. The minor challenge was to find a method of pulling the filter out of refrigerator (which is normally done by pulling on the filler cap. The filter was recessed to far into the refrigerator for me to be able attach the new cap. I had to find another tactic to remove the filter. After checking the suggested fixes and parts on Appliance Parts Pros, I ordered the defrost thermostat and evap motor for my refrigerator, a Kitchen Aid KSSC42QTS00. Installation was very easy, simply emptying the freezer and removing the access panel in the back bottom half. Submitted September 7, 2014 On my 1993 (mfg. date) Whirlpool side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, the shelf endcaps on the inside of the refrigerator door were broken. The endcaps (paired) are the plastic pieces that attach each shelf's horizontal metal strip to the door. The horizontal strip acts as a retainer to keep items from falling off the shelf. There are videos on You Tube,. After removing the bottom basket, you remove the entire drawer including the door together with it, by using a screwdriver to depress the white clip on each drawer slide which releases the slide from body of the freezer. Once you pull our the entire drawer, you will need to drill out a rivet to remove the old slide. You will need a rivet gun to attach the new slide. Read more

I ordered the parts, removed the old icemaker, followed the video exactly, and put the new one in. So easy! Video was spot one. I am a 63 year old woman and had no trouble. Anyone can do this, don't pay for a repair. The filter housing was harder, you need to use a wrench to push the grip on the old filter housing to get the water lines to release.
