Freezer cold but fridge warm? Frost building on evaporator coils? This defrost heater melts ice buildup to restore proper cooling. DIY-friendly repair.
After we moved into our new home, we realized that the freezer was very cold and the fins were frosting over, and the refrigerator wasn't cold. After research online, we found Appliance Parts Pros videos, which clearly explained how to fix it ourselves, a savings of at least $1,000 or more, since a new one of this size would have been in the arena of $1,200 to $2000. Dryer not heating or stuck on one temperature? This temperature selector switch controls heat settings. Moderate DIY repair with video guide available.
I replaced the cycle switch, fixing the lack of heat. The timer switch replacement fixed the auto cool down. The only thing to be said about that is that it was a lot cheaper than a repairman or replacing the dryer. Read more

I had to remove my dryer so I could install a new floor. The dryer would not fit through the doorway with the power cord attached. If your large burner won't heat or stay at the right temperature, the element switch likely needs replacement. Simple 10-15 minute repair with a screwdriver.
You have to take the knob off the broken part, then buy the new switch element and fix it. To do this you turn the power off, take out 6 fasteners to release the front panel of the stove and replace the switch element. Then put it all back together. Very simple. But if the knob was designed better it would not have broken in the first place. It looks nice, but this is the third time I have had to fix one. Read more
Replacement passive door hinge for electric and gas ranges. Serves as the pivot point for your oven door. Replace if bent, broken, or worn from use.
I knew for sure that the hinge with the large spring was damaged, but elected to replace both hinges and receivers. Replacing the parts was fairly easy and would have taken me less then an hour. This model has thin metal covers over the hinge assemblies. I found that squeezing in the sides of the covers help to hold them in place on the hinge while reassembling the door. My only difficulty was putting the door back on the oven. It took a little maneuvering but I managed to get it. Now the door... Read more
