Estate Control Board

Estate Timer
Genuine Whirlpool part
By: Whirlpool
Part Number: WP8542050

The Timer is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. This component is responsible for controlling the various cycles of the washing machine, ensuring that each phase, from washing to rinsing to spinning, occurs at the correct time and duration.

Causes of a bad timer can include electrical faults, wear and tear on the internal mechanisms, or damage due to power surges or moisture exposure. Over time, these issues can interfere with the timer's ability to accurately manage the washing cycles, leading to performance problems.

Symptoms of a bad timer include:

  • The washing machine not advancing through cycles
  • Incorrect cycle durations
  • The machine getting stuck in one part of the cycle
  • Unresponsive or erratic timer controls

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Erratic cooling ice buildup in freezer   Donald M. • Stover , MO • March 13, 2015

I replaced the Thermostat and Defrost Timer. It was a fairly easy repair other than removing the old Defrost Timer. The way the manufacturer, in this case, Amana, mounts that unit with "clips" is just poor design and engineering. It is virtually impossible to get the timer out without damaging the mounts. I had to do some creative rework to mount the new timer. After 2 days, the fridge appears to be working properly with these new parts. The new parts were shipped Very Fast...APP is... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You 1994 whirlpool washer model lst8244bq0 not going to spin cycle   E R. • Potomac , MD • June 05, 2016

The most challenging part of this was determining what the problem was. At first I thought the clutch (or related parts) had worn out, but by chance, I pulled on the timer knob, and the machine started spinning. When I let it go, it stopped. So clearly the spinning part worked. Then I watched a few videos about repairing a bad timer and determined that it was the likely culprit. I ordered the part. It was very simple to replace.
