If the element is completely attached but still unable to heat, it might be time to replace this part. Be sure that the appliance is powered off before replacing this part. This part is sourced directly from the manufacturer and is sold individually. Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You I am an idiot don't be me   Tim M. • Yuma , AZ • January 13, 2020

I broke two of the elements in my GE Profile cooktop because I failed miserably at removing the glass top. It pays to do your research, kiddies. All it takes is a Number 10 Torx bit to remove 12 screws holding the glass to the body of the appliance, and it lifts straight up. I was replacing the glass because it broke during my home's construction. Anyway, you need a 1/4" nut driver to remove the mounting tabs on the bottom of the old element and transfer them to the new one. The whole swap out... Read more

Do-It-Yourself Stories from Customers like You Element was broken   James H. • Ocean Springs , MS • December 19, 2014

The repair was quite simple. Once the plate holding the element was off just unhook the wires and attach the new element. The issues were the wires are tight and had to hold onto the wires so they did not go into the back of the range. Also had to use a pair of needle nose pliers to get the wires off of the element. Simple fix. Our oven is a GE dual fuel (gas burners on top, electric elements inside) model # J2S968SOH4SS. The lower element hidden underneath the bottom drip cover stopped heating.
