Ordered new GE dryer strike plate w/stick and latch. Switched out dryer latch. Turns out it is the dryer sensor, Switched the opening ot the dryer door to the opposite side. That worked for several cycles until the sensor not reading door closure so I'm having to apply pressure to the bottom of the dryer door (where the sensor is located) before starting. Read more

Tested the old t-stat with ohm meter. When shaken, the contacts would open. Replaced it with new t-stat and it works fine now. Thanks! Read more

We ordered a door switch, dryer latch and strike plate. We realized that we only needed to replace the door switch. We watched a few videos and then replaced the switch. We couldn’t find a video for our model but they did give us a pretty good idea about what we needed to do. The hardest part was getting the original door switch out, all of the videos we watched showed us that it would pop out with a little pressure from a flat head screw driver, from the front of the switch. I could hear the dryer motor hum, but it would not run. There was nothing obstructing the motor from turning freely so I assumed I needed a new motor. I went ahead and ordered a new pulley switch to change out while I was in there just in case. The parts arrived faster than expected. I changed the switch first and then checked the old motor which surprisingly fired right up. Now I have to decide whether to return the new motor or keep it as a spare. Read more

Realizing that there could be multiple reasons for a gas dryer failing to heat, I decided to test everything I could. The very detailed and product specific video showed me how to disassemble the dryer. The thermostat, cycling thermostat, high limit, flame detector, igniter, gas valve coils and timer all showed correct continuity or resistance. My GE dryer from the late 80's/early 90's was squealing when it would start up, belt or bearing I was thinking. I found a manual online that covered my model and I watched a video on this site that showed me how to take it all apart, mine was a bit different but the principles were the same. I took it apart and added some quick-disconnects to 2 wires so next time I can take the front panel off easily.
