I replaced the downdraft fan and fan motor of my 25 year old JennAire C301 cooktop. The issue was getting the fan/motor assembly out in such a tight place. I had to first remove the fan cover, cut the wires, then the assembly came out. Putting back wasn't as tough although getting the cover back on (over the motor) was a bit of a strain. Wired it back, turned it on, and was thrilled. Now I'll replace the knobs and burners and we're back in business. Read more

So, this is a common problem, and the fourth time I have done this for someone in by neighborhood. Takes about 10 minutes, and requires very little skill. You simply unscrew the oven from it's mount points, pull it out a little bit, remove the four sheet metal screws holding the panel in place, unplug electronics, and plug the new panel in. After doing much research online, I found out that the Touchpad on the JennAir downdraft gas range JGS9900BDS is very prone to "breaking." All my neighbors who has this model has reported that the touchpad stopped responding after a few years. Replacing was fairly simple. 1. Turn off the electricity to the range at the breaker 2. Very easy fix. Remove oven door by just opening it slightly and pulling up. (an easy way to clean it too). Then, with a phillips screw driver, remove two screws holding the damaged element in place. Slowly pull the element toward the front a couple inched to expose the wires. Disconnect the wires (no tools needed), remove the old element and replace it with the new.
