The Surface Burner Igniter is an OEM part for Whirlpool ranges and cooktops. This component is crucial for igniting the gas that fuels the surface burners, ensuring that the burners light up safely and efficiently when the control knob is turned. The igniter produces a spark that lights the gas, allowing you to cook with precision and control. The surface burner igniter wire measures approximately 43" long.
Symptoms of a failing Surface Burner Igniter include:
- The burner not lighting or taking multiple attempts to light
- Weak or no spark produced when trying to ignite the burner
- A clicking sound without ignition of the burner
- Visible damage or wear to the igniter tip
Causes of a bad surface burner igniter can include regular wear and tear from frequent use, exposure to spills and food debris that can affect its function, and electrical issues such as a short circuit or a worn-out spark module.
This OEM part is also compatible with some models from Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore.
