So this is a poor design in the first case. Not having a center support in the back almost guarantees a failure there eventually. I kludged together a support in my original more than a year ago, but finally the part broke too bad to limp along with anymore. This is the part I needed. Easy to replace with the shield and paddle assembly. Steps are: 1. use a flat head screwdriver to push the tabs at the base of the control panel. remove the wire connectors by gently prying them straight off. 2. remove the 4 phillips screws holding in the old assembly. 3. Install the new assembly by carefully putting the paddle behind the water pipe that sticks out.
