Refrigerator won't start or stops running? A failed capacitor disrupts motor circuits. This film radial capacitor restores voltage stability and operation.
For an emergency fix I installed a 3 in1 kit disabling the original start cap and wiring in the original run cap to the run winding. Ordered the proper PTC and overload from Appliance Parts Pros and installed them 2 weeks later. The original start and run capacitor were good, rewired back to design specs. The original PTC had pins 1,2 and 3, the replacement had 2,3 and 4. Only wiring change was to install the red wire from pin 1 on the original PTC to pin 4 on the new PTC. Read more

This capacitor stores and releases electrical energy to help the refrigerator's compressor start and run smoothly. Replacing a weak or failed capacitor can restore reliable compressor startup and more consistent cooling performance.
My barely three year old Frigidaire upright freezer quit running and we discovered it when most of the contents were just starting to thaw. Luckily we have nearby neighbors that my wife walks with most days and two or three of them came to our rescue with available freezer space to save the more valuable things like meat and seafood. The compressor would not come on, no fan, no noises of any kind but the light came on when the door was opened so obviously it had power. I unplugged it for a... Read more

I read alot of blogs about the same similar symptom, but none described by exact problem. I kept reading how the compressor relay would make a click noise or sisal. I also found out the overload switch could cause a like symptom. The end result being that upon removal of the relay, it was discolored and made a rattling noise when shook. The overload switch was heat cracked on the plastic and looked like it had had enough. This was easily accomplished by using the repair mans print out for the... Read more
