Kenmore / Sears Relay, Overload, Capacitor

Used a muiltimeter to test all parts and ohm'ed out all parts. found out condenser fan motor seized up [open winding in motor] replaced that, and found that also caused the compressor overload and relay to fail, from over heating and over cycling, replaced both parts, powered up the refrigerator retested all electrical parts checked amp reading on all parts under load conditions,works good know, hope to get another 15 years out of this refrigator, its a maytag. over 20 years old. I read alot of blogs about the same similar symptom, but none described by exact problem. I kept reading how the compressor relay would make a click noise or sisal. I also found out the overload switch could cause a like symptom. The end result being that upon removal of the relay, it was discolored and made a rattling noise when shook. I ordered the compressor starting device kit and run capacitor to replace the burnt parts. It works right off the bat! The parts are for a Kenmore fridge/freezer. Now it was running smoothly with the additional temperatures that I replace in the Freezer side and the refrigerator side. Also,replaced the capacitors for the compressors to start the systems. Set up the temperature to 4 degree F Freezer side and 45 degree F on the Refrigerator side. Is okay now and Thank you for all the parts and all your groups help and information. Thanks again. When the part arrived finally, 10 minute's later the refrigerator was working. Note: FedEx was not the fastest way, the part set days at their facility before moving to another. Finally, it was transferred to USPS and delivery was made by my postman. Read more

For an emergency fix I installed a 3 in1 kit disabling the original start cap and wiring in the original run cap to the run winding. Ordered the proper PTC and overload from Appliance Parts Pros and installed them 2 weeks later. The original start and run capacitor were good, rewired back to design specs. The original PTC had pins 1,2 and 3, the replacement had 2,3 and 4. Only wiring change was to install the red wire from pin 1 on the original PTC to pin 4 on the new PTC. Read more

Agent was very helpful in diagnosing the problem and finding the correct part for LG wine fridge which was 15 years old. Gave instructions on how to replace part and part was delivered the next day. Customer service doesn't get any better than this. Read more
