I turned off power and unplugged the touch panel ribbon cable. After restoring power and closing the dishwasher, it started running a drain cycle--this suggested the issue was the touch panel. Replacing the panel was pretty simple. Remove 6 screws (need a torx) bit, unplug the ribbon cable, take off the control board and the handle, and then reattach the new touch panel. Ordered tracks and adjusters via chat. Adjusters were not needed so I returned them. The repair was very easy. Had to slide out the dishwasher and remove four screws holding each track. Installed new tracks and put dishwasher back in place. Read more

Told him I have electrical engineering experience, used to fix pinball machines and that the pinballs and home appliances were the same design, i.e. inductor in series with a switch across the hot lines.
